Card games are a delight that has been around for decades, largely in part due to its simplicity, wide spread popularity, and intellectually stimulating enjoyment. Not to mention that it is one of the most common features of casinos and other gambling arenas. While there are a plethora of different free card games online , and most have sub-variations, this blog post is intended to give you a brief glimpse of the list of card games.

BLACKJACK

Blackjack, also known as 21, is a game generally involving two players, the opponent and the dealer. The rules are relatively simple, each the dealer and the player receives two cards, which are not shown to other. The players then total up the value of their cards based on their individual numeric, or if they have a special card, royals (kings, queens, jacks) account for ten points while aces account for eleven or a single point depending on what the player prefers. They then place bets against their opponents if they believe to have a higher value that does not exceed 21 than their partner. If they have exactly 21 AKA a natural blackjack, then they win the bet.

CHEAT

The most common title of the game is Cheat, but it is alternatively referred to as “Bullshit” or “I Doubt It”, depending on your profanity comfortably. The game can be played between 2-10 players, making it ideal for larger party groups. The game begins with each person splitting the standard 52 card deck equally among all players. Then, whoever is going first, starts their turn by placing an ace card facing downwards on the table, so that others do not know if it’s truly the right card or not. The next player then places a 2 face down on top of the ace, the next a 3, and so on until the entire line of cards is placed (Ace to King). If you do not have the card designated for your turn’s number, then you may pretend a card is the number, but be wary, if a person catches your lie and shouts “bullshit”, then you will be forced to pick up the entire current stack of cards. First person to empty their hand wins.

POKER

What’s a casino without some poker? While there are many iterations of the game--texas hold ‘em, Omaha, high/low Chicago, and follow the queen, to name a few, stud and draw poker will always be the classics immortalised in the hearts of card players throughout the world. In stud poker, players are dealt five to seven cards and must bet on if they have the highest scoring hand. In contrasts, draw poker involves, as the name suggests, drawing cards to better your hand as the bet continues, although both variations are pretty similar.  Out of all the poker variations, Texas Hold'em Poker is one of the most sophisticated. The objective of the game is to have the best five-card hand and to maximise the Pot through betting.
